About IMCV

The International Mozart Competition Vienna (IMCV) is dedicated to the memory of one of the greatest composers, Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart (Salzburg, January 27, 1756-Vienna, December 5, 1791) This competition is held to motivate young musicians by providing them with an opportunity to be evaluated by leading musicians and professors on their performance skills. It also provides the opportunity to perform on a global online platform as well as a chance to perform live in Vienna.

The aim of the IMCV is to promote the study of music and the growth of young musicians by creating new avenues for performance and artistic expression. The IMCV stems from a vision to harness the power of art and culture as a means of connecting people from around the world. It is an event that takes place entirely through video submissions.

Presented by The Classical Music Company, the competition is held annually and is open to musicians, music students and music lovers of any nationality and age from all over the world. The contest is divided into musical categories such as piano, strings, wind, vocal and chamber music. Each instrument or category will be judged in groups based on the age of the contestants.

The IMCV is divided into two rounds: first and final. Participants must submit a video showing their highest performance level. The final selection of winners is based on the video material submitted in the contest by the candidates. Multiple winners will be selected for each age group.

A selection of the winners will be invited to participate in the gala concert in Vienna at Musikverein.

The new generation of young musicians needs international places and platforms for meeting like-minded people, receiving recognition, encouragement and motivation. The IMCV aims to foster the development of young and professional musicians in the field of musical learning and performance.
